The psuedo-news / pop-journalism webzines are popping up on our Google alerts - supposedly some stud on ABC's The Bachelor Pad was wearing Nantucket Reds when he walked off the set with another contestant . . .? Can anyone verify if they were Red's? We cannot seem to track down a decent image or video.

Nantucket Red's featured on "The Daily Guide of Permanent Style". And while the style may be permanent, they are "guaranteed to fade" . . . .

Not many pieces of clothing are able to inspire their own lore, but Nantucket Reds rank among that select few. One account of the birth of quintessentially preppy trousers holds that Philip Murray, owner of Murray’s Toggery Shop on the Massachusetts island of Nantucket, fell into a cranberry bog and emerged with his once-stone-colored pants dyed by the berries’ juices. It’s a total fabrication, but at least it’s an entertaining one.

2011 FESTIVAL | MAY 18-22ND, 2011

Over the past 14 years the Nantucket Wine Festival has blossomed into one of the nation's most celebrated wine and food events. With the help of Nantucket landmark hotel, The White Elephant, most of this year's festival will be staged entirely in the heart of downtown Nantucket.

Golden Gate Yacht Club has scheduled the 34th America’s Cup match for Sept. 7-22, 2013, on San Francisco Bay.

The match, which will pit the U.S. Defender against a foreign challenger, will once again be a best-of-9 series.

The Louis Vuitton Cup, which will determine the Challenger, has been scheduled for July 13-Sept. 1, 2013. The dates were released Jan. 25.

The 34th America’s Cup will be sailed in a new class of fast 72-foot catamarans with wing sails. A 45-foot version of the boat was launched in Auckland, New Zealand, in January. An America’s Cup World Series will begin later this year.

Nantucket Reds are a style of trousers produced by Murray's Toggery Shop, located on the islands of Nantucket and formally on Martha's Vineyard until January of 2009. These islands are situated off the coast of Cape Cod, a peninsula of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The pants were originally an adapted form of the uniforms worn by the New York Yacht Club. Nantucket Reds are unique in that they fade to a light pink as they age. Since their inception, the cotton canvas pants have been marketed as shorts, and the trademark salmon red color has been used on hats, shirts, sweaters and socks. During the summers of 2005 and 2006 there was an attempt introduce Nantucket Reds to the mainstream by the retailer J. Crew. Nantucket Reds are worn predominately by summer residents of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
